I praise you endlessly, our mentor, because you have expounded the profound and subtle Dharma in plain language so that we, who possess lowly culture, can feel and receive the unsurpassed clarified butter.
I praise you endlessly, our mentor, because you have appeared different bodies and identities to accompany us for kotis, to cultivate and build up the base for cultivation for us gradually.
I praise you endlessly, our mentor, because you are the real preacher of the Dharma. You have an outstanding eloquence and what you have taught can form an essay. You have been established in wisdom and humor and you have expounded the Dharma naturally in accordance with the situation, place and characters through skillful examples and illustrations, which accords with the teaching of the buddhas and is appropriate to the capacities of sentient beings, enabling us to understand easily and impressively. Through jokes, criticism and examples, you have helped us to attain the wisdom from listening to the Dharma, the wisdom from thinking the Dharma and the wisdom from cultivating the Dharma.
I praise you endlessly, our mentor, because you are our real mentor and the most excellent condition for us. You are versed in letting us easily and perfectly bring forth, build up and achieve all the knowledge, wisdom, blessings, good roots and all the excellent merits and virtues.
I praise you endlessly, our mentor, because you are the great adviser, the real reliance and the eternal refuge of sentient beings. Only you are capable of being called the lord of merits and virtues.
I praise you endlessly, our mentor, because you have cautioned us, saying, “if you are in good situation, treasure it. If you can’t make the best use of it, you are wasting your poor blessings.”
I praise you endlessly, our mentor. Because of your persistent teaching, I gradually realize that I originally were a severely paranoid neurotic so that I don’t dare to be arrogant and conceited again.
I praise you endlessly, our mentor, because you enable me to understand that it’s not necessary for somebody who wants to cultivate to hold the sutras or to make obeisance before the buddhas all day long. The key to cultivation is whether we can use every kind of condition to get rid of sufferings and to obtain bliss. We shouldn’t do the things that can harm ourselves and others. If we can benefit ourselves and others, why not do it?
I praise you endlessly, our mentor, because you have protected us with your great compassion. After I heard those creepy and miserable stories, I realized how terrible the evil karma and evil people I had attracted were.
I praise you endlessly, our mentor. I feel that when you face us who are
clumsy in body, speech and mind and have little merit and virtue, you
can do nothing. Meanwhile, you would encounter those who blame and resent you and who bite the hand that feeds them when helping them.
I praise you and am grateful to you, our mentor. Recollecting you makes me both sad and happy. I feel sad because of shame. I feel sorry for you and your kindness. I feel happy to encounter you and it’s extremely difficult to meet you.
