A Kind Mentor –1

Hello, dear listeners! Welcome to this episode of the podcast, brought to you by the Australia Buddhas’ Practice Incorporated.

The Avatamsaka Sutra states: To attain the wisdom of all-knowing enlightenment, one must resolutely seek a true Kind Mentor. In seeking a Kind Mentor, do not grow weary or lax. When encountering a Kind Mentor, do not feel satisfied and cease striving. Follow all their teachings with an open heart, and do not find fault in their skillful means.

Dear friends, on the journey of life, if we aspire to reach the shores of ultimate wisdom, finding a true Kind Mentor is like discovering a radiant beacon, guiding us through the fog of confusion. A Kind Mentor is no ordinary person—they are a vessel of wisdom and compassion, ferrying us across the sea of suffering and illuminating the path to truth. The pursuit of such a guide is not a fleeting endeavor; it demands a steadfast heart, undeterred by the long road or discouraged by obstacles. Every encounter with a Kind Mentor is a cleansing of the soul; every moment spent absorbing their teachings is a step toward greater wisdom. Their words may flow like a clear spring, washing away the dust of delusion; their actions may shine like the moon, lighting up the darkest paths. We must approach their guidance with humility, embracing their teachings without clinging to our own stubborn views or hastily judging what we do not yet understand. The skillful means of a Kind Mentor are tailored expressions of wisdom, often profound in their simplicity. If we view them with a critical eye, we risk missing the brilliance of truth. Only by approaching with sincerity and trust can we tread the path to ultimate enlightenment, drawing ever closer to the perfect wisdom of “all-knowing.” In this way, nurtured by wisdom, our lives can blossom with boundless radiance.

Thank you for listening!
