The Bodhisattva’s love—
A love that sacrifices,
That gives without end,
That pours itself out,
A boundless river of compassion,
Nourishing all beings without ceasing.
But the love of beings—
A love that grasps,
That longs to possess,
A ceaseless desire to claim,
Bound by the chains of “me” and “mine.”
Thus the Buddha spoke:
All worldly love is suffering,
Where there is attachment,
There is always pain.
