Wisdom use)

Author: Fafu

When one employs wisdom, all affairs are in harmony, and joyful sensations arise.

One aspect of wisdom is to befriend the virtuous. Every step taken in this direction inevitably generates happiness, though one may not be aware.

For instance, a virtuous mentor is the foundation of all attainments. An awakened and wise individual will actively cultivate a connection with such a mentor, relying on, honoring, offering, and serving them, cherishing everything about the virtuous one.

One aspect of wisdom is to be sincere and honest. Every step taken in this direction inevitably generates happiness, though one may not be aware.

For example, one who is single-minded in serving others, who is kind and not frivolous, and who is sincere and not deceitful, is liked and needed by all, from high-ranking officials to ordinary people. An awakened and wise individual strives to cultivate these qualities.

One aspect of wisdom is to cultivate compassion, joy, giving, and equanimity. Each step taken in this direction inevitably generates happiness, though one may not be aware.

For instance, compassion, joy, giving, and equanimity are the seeds of Buddhahood, connecting one with all Buddhas and Bodhisattvas and fully developing the five faculties and five powers. Even a small virtuous act performed with these qualities can accumulate positive karma as vast as Mount Sumeru. An awakened and wise individual will certainly practice compassion, joy, giving, and equanimity.

One aspect of wisdom is to be free from hope. Each step taken in this direction inevitably generates happiness, though one may not be aware.

For instance, one who is free from greed and who does not seek personal gain will naturally have a high character. When one is without hope and without seeking personal gain but instead seeks to benefit others, one will have everything. An awakened and wise individual will help all beings with a mind free from hope and a pure mind.

One aspect of wisdom is to grasp the nature of dependent origination. Each step taken in this direction inevitably generates happiness, though one may not be aware.

For instance, appreciation, praise, and gratitude are sublime examples of dependent origination. They inspire beings to follow joyfully and swiftly bring about wondrous, happy results. An awakened and wise individual never hesitates to appreciate, praise, and express gratitude to everyone.

One aspect of wisdom is to sow widely the seeds of goodness. Each step taken in this direction inevitably generates happiness, though one may not be aware.

For example, cultivating wholesome aspirations at all times is sowing the seeds of Buddhahood, which will inevitably lead to the fulfillment of virtuous conduct. An awakened and wise individual is mindful of speech and action, always uttering wholesome words.

One aspect of wisdom is to be endowed with a sense of shame. Each step taken in this direction inevitably generates happiness, though one may not be aware.

For instance, being born in the degenerate age, where beings are extremely stubborn, malicious, and wicked, and every thought and action is tainted by sin, a wise and awakened individual will cultivate a deep sense of shame, never allowing evil actions to solidify into fixed karma.

One aspect of wisdom is to be patient and gentle. Each step taken in this direction inevitably generates happiness, though one may not be aware.

For instance, when faced with slander or harm, one can view this as an opportunity to eliminate countless negative karmic retributions. An awakened and wise individual joyfully accepts all adversity with gentleness and gratitude.

One aspect of wisdom is to conform to the inclinations of others. Each step taken in this direction inevitably generates happiness, though one may not be aware.

For instance, by always standing on the same side as others in both words and deeds, beings will naturally feel joy and a sense of closeness. An awakened and wise individual cultivates great compassion and constantly conforms to the inclinations of others, bringing joy to beings and to the Buddhas, and swiftly ripening the fruits of wisdom.

One aspect of wisdom is to take refuge in the Three Jewels. Each step taken in this direction inevitably generates happiness, though one may not be aware.

For example, in the boundless ocean of suffering, the Three Jewels are our only refuge. An awakened and wise individual, even when they have made mistakes, will trust that the Three Jewels will always compassionately protect them. They will never forget the Three Jewels, their lifeline in times of need.

Is the happiness resulting from cultivating each wisdom a natural and inevitable consequence?
