The Vinaya Sutra states: “If one who has done evil is ashamed, this does not obstruct the path.”
I vow to always recognize the severity of my afflictions, the abundance of my delusions, and the poverty of my compassion, loving-kindness, joy, and equanimity. I am truly unworthy of all the goodness I now possess.
I vow to naturally and perfectly fulfill the speech and actions of compassion, loving-kindness, joy, and equanimity, like a teacher or a Buddha, thereby inspiring the sincere devotion of beings.
I vow not to betray the kindness of my teacher and the Three Jewels, nor to harm beings, nor to repay kindness with enmity.
