A Kind Mentor –2

Hello, dear listeners! Welcome to this episode of the podcast, brought to you by the Australia Buddhas’ Practice Incorporated.

The Avatamsaka Sutra states: A Bodhisattva is rare to appear and difficult to meet; to behold a Bodhisattva is even rarer still. Bodhisattvas are the refuge for all beings, nurturing their growth and fulfillment; they are the saviors of all beings, relieving them from suffering; they are the sanctuary for all beings, protecting the world; they are the protectors of all beings, freeing them from fear.

Bodhisattvas are like a windwheel, upholding the world to prevent its fall into evil realms; like the vast earth, fostering the growth of beings’ virtuous roots; like the great ocean, filled with boundless merit; like the radiant sun, illuminating all with the light of wisdom; like Mount Sumeru, their virtuous roots towering above all; like the bright moon, radiating the light of wisdom; like a valiant general, vanquishing the armies of delusion; like a sovereign, reigning freely in the city of the Buddha’s Dharma; like a fierce fire, burning away beings’ attachments to self and craving; like a great cloud, pouring forth the boundless rain of sublime teachings; like timely rain, nurturing the sprouting seeds of faith; like a skilled mariner, guiding beings to the shores of the Dharma sea; like a bridge, enabling beings to cross the ocean of birth and death.

Dear friends, in this ever-changing world, the presence of a Bodhisattva is like a rare and precious gem—seldom seen, even harder to encounter, and to witness their grace is a blessing beyond measure. With boundless compassion and wisdom, they serve as pillars for all beings to lean on; they are like a vast harbor, safeguarding the world from downfall; they are fearless warriors, dispelling fear and restoring light and freedom to the heart.

The actions of Bodhisattvas are like a windwheel, steadily upholding the world to keep it from plunging into dark realms; like fertile earth, quietly nurturing the seeds of virtue in every heart; like the vast ocean, their merit boundless and embracing all aspirations; like the blazing sun, their wisdom illuminating every corner of existence; like Mount Sumeru, their virtues soaring high, inspiring awe; like the radiant moon, their wisdom’s light soothing troubled souls; like an invincible general, cutting through the temptations of delusion; like a sovereign in the city of the Buddha’s Dharma, abiding in truth with perfect ease; like a fierce blaze, consuming the delusions of self and desire; like a great cloud, showering the nectar of profound teachings; like timely rain, nourishing the budding faith of all beings; like a skilled mariner, guiding beings to the far shore of the Dharma sea; like a sturdy bridge, leading beings across the turbulent ocean of birth and death.

Thank you for listening!
