The presence of a Kind Mentor is like a gateway to supreme wisdom, leading us onto the true path of practice; like a swift chariot, carrying us directly to the sacred land of the Tathagata; like a sturdy ship riding the winds and waves, guiding us to the treasure island of wisdom.
A Kind Mentor is a torch igniting our merit, kindling the boundless radiance of the Buddha’s ten powers; they are wise guides, leading us into the pure city of Nirvana; they are a radiant lamp in the darkness, illuminating the smooth and rugged paths ahead. They are like a steadfast bridge, helping us cross the perilous abyss of afflictions; like a splendid canopy, shielding us from the heat of worldly troubles and bringing the coolness of great compassion; like clear eyes, enabling us to perceive the true nature of all phenomena; like a mighty tide, nourishing our hearts and filling our souls with the nectar of great compassion.
