This document presents an excerpt from a lecture titled “The Qualities and Power of Bodhicitta” delivered by Venerable Master Bennie from the Australian Buddhist Practice Incorporated. The lecture, presented in a question-and-answer format between the Master and a disciple, explores the concept of Bodhicitta, or the aspiration to achieve enlightenment for the benefit of all beings. Through various analogies from Buddhist scriptures, such as Bodhicitta being like a monarch, an emperor, a great ocean, Mount Meru, or the Iron Mountain, the discussion clarifies its qualities and effects. The dialogue also touches upon the importance of compassion, the misconceptions of loss versus gain from a Buddhist perspective, and the consequences of distorted views even when paired with loyalty.
